Program Overview

Students enroll in one, two, or three six-week blocks, taking two courses during each block. This program gives students the flexibility to stay in Paris the entire time or spend other blocks at our Global Institute locations in Berlin, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Copenhagen, London, Monteverde, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Rome, Santiago, Shanghai, Sydney, and Yucatán.

Students select one of six academic tracks: Business; Communications, Journalism, and New Media; Global and Community Health; International Relations and Political Science; Language, Literature, and Culture, or STEM and Society.

Most courses are taught in English. Students will be asked to select their track during the application process but will be able to select their courses from all of the course offerings, regardless of selected track (unless the home university has other requirements). All CIEE students, regardless of previous language experience, have the opportunity to learn French. Courses at a variety of proficiency levels are available, and more advanced French speakers can take advantage of French-taught area studies courses.

Faculty from local institutions and CIEE faculty teach CIEE courses. Eligible students studying in Paris for three blocks may be able to enroll in one Universite de Paris course.

Excursions & Activities

  • Paris offers some of the greatest sites in the world: Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, the Palace de Versailles, the Louvre, and the Eiffel Tower, to name a few.
  • The CIEE Global Institute-Paris is located in the Second Arrondissement of the city of Paris. The neighborhood is marked by both the majestic, cream-colored stone buildings and wide avenues of the Haussmann period, as well as the charming, serpentine streets and 16th-century architecture of the Sentier Quarter.

Projects

Volunteering. There are volunteer opportunities at sports clubs, arts organizations, youth centers, churches, schools, and other community organizations.

Students interested in one of the following Academic Projects must submit additional materials as part of their course selection:

Internships. Build new skills and intercultural competencies through the CIEE Internship and become an active member of the Paris professional environment.

Research. Pursue a research project of your own design incorporating independent, local field-work.

Service-learning. Combine course-based learning with practical, relevant project experience to meet a community-defined need.
